new meatloaf recipe

So, i have always used the same recipe for meatloaf. I'm talking ALWAYS! My moms, my grams-they both used the same recipe. It calls for saltine crackers. One thing I was out of today. Dang it. i hate trying to make a tasty dinner when I haven't gone grocery shopping in a while :) Out of milk. Out of butter. Out of imagination :) So I got online and did some research. A lot of people use, wait for it......OATMEAL in their meatloaf. Oatmeal is something I have an abundance of currently. I found a few recipes that I liked and decided to combine them together :)
Whatcha need:
1 1/2 lbs of ground beef (ground turkey can be used)
1 envelope of dried onion soup mix
1/2 C oatmeal
1 egg
3/4 C ketchup
about 1-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Whatcha Do:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium size bowl, beat the egg. Add burger and mix together (i use my hands heehee) Pour in the oatmeal and soup mix. Mix together WELL. Spoon (unless you use your hands)the mixture into a loaf pan. I use a glass loaf pan and highly recommend it. It makes it easier to tell when the meatloaf is done!! Place in oven and cook for roughly 30 minutes. In separate little bowl (or your handy dandy glass measuring cups) mix together the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. After the meat has cooked for 30 mins. take it out and spread our super flavorful ketchup mixture. Put it back in the oven and cook for another 5 minutes. Wa la! You have a super tasty meatloaf! Even my 3 year old loved it!
